Missing from Britain? Migration of Mormons

The Really Useful Bulletine No 34 June 2023 has a fascinating article 'When the Saints go marching in' by Ian Waller on the Mormons and the emigration of their British Church members.

Predominately the British and Scandinavians migrants were among the 65,000 early church members who travelled across America to finally settle in Salt Lake City.

The church grew in England in the 1840s and with the help to poorer members by loans they were assisted to migrate to America. 1840 to 1868 they travelled by sailing ship and later 1869 to 1899 by steam ship. These records are in 'Worldwide LDS ships database'

The records are explained on the familysearch wiki web page [Online at https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Latterday_Saint_Emigration_and_migration (Accessed 26 June 2023)]
