Kevin Bacon ‘Six degrees of separation’ Workshop.
At Wednesday 10-2-2021 workshop one of the exercises to make connections was to compare birthdates of the participants.
The calculation to figure out the probability of finding two people with the same birth date in a given group says that the 50% probability requires a group of approx. 23 people. For 100% probability the group needs to be between 60 and 70 people.
At todays workshop there were 13 participants. To the great surprise of the workshop leader David Cufley when the birthdates were compared there were two participants with the 1st January birthdays. Even more surprising was that there were also two participants with the 15th June birthdays. An amazing coincidence that left David staggered.
