Indian ancestors research

One of our members has contacted the Library to tell us of the success she has had researching her Indian ancestors using the familysearch.org web site.

You may need to register on the site, but it is free.

The Indian collections include:-

India, Death and Burials 1719-1948.

India, Births and Baptisms 1786-1947.

India, Marriages 1792-1948.

By clicking on any of these collections you are taken to a page that allows you to search for any name you want.

Our member reminds us that India was divided into three administration providences, Madras, Bombay which included Pakistan and Calcutta which included Burma.
