Sevenoaks Branch Talk: 80 Years of Desert Island Discs with Delia Taylor (talk will be preceded by Branch Annual Meeting)
This is a new presentation for Delia.
Running for more than 80 years, DID is the longest-running programme on radio. Some people have been interviewed more than once and some of the choices of luxury items have caused problems for the BBC as have some of the individuals who have been interviewed over the years.
Hear about the laughs, tears and awkward castaways who have taken part in this historic show.
Doors open 10.45am, meeting starts 11am.
Talk will be preceded by the Branch Annual Meeting.
There is a large public car park (payment required, 50p for 2 hours, £1 for 3 hours) adjacent to the hall but it can be busy.
No booking, just turn up.
The Society is a registered charity and membership fees and donations are an important part of our income. The Talk is free to members but guests and visitors are asked to make a donation towards hall hire and speaker's fee. There will be a donations box at the venue.
But Society membership only costs £10 a year (£12 joint members) and if you join now (ie after 1 October 2024) your membership lasts until 31 December 2025.
