Dartford Branch Talk: Emigration to Australia in the Mid 19th Century by Bill Lindsay
Since his retirement from the pharmaceutical industry Bill has been researching Victorian merchant shipping and has written many articles on the subject and is the editor of the magazine Topmasts for the Society of Nautical Research.
Many of us have ancestors who went to Australia and his family's nautical connections will enable him to include details of the conditions aboard ship that were endured by them and what they experienced when they arrived at their destination.
Doors open 9.45am. The meeting / talk will start at 10.30am and end by 12.30pm.
The Talk venue has a large, free car park but it is shared with other users and can be busy at times.
No booking, just turn up.
The Society is a registered charity and membership fees and donations are an important part of our income. The Talk is free to members but guests and visitors are asked to make a donation towards hall hire and speaker's fee. There will be a donations box at the venue.
But Society membership only costs £10 a year (£12 joint members) https://www.nwkfhs.org.uk/about/membership/our-membership
